Global Japanese Artists: Gutai-Today and to the Future

Whitestone Hong Kong showcase a selection of global Japanese artists in its venue in Ginza and Wong Chuk Hang at the same time. With Gutai’s international recognition in recent years, the gallery focuses on reframing post-war Japanese artworks into a global discourse on artistic innovation. The exhibition showcases suburb works of Gutai artists, Japanese Informel artists such as Toshimitsu Imai, Hisao Domoto and notable contemporary artists like Yukihisa Isobe, Jiro Takamatsu, Natsuyuki Nakanishi, Jiro Takamatsu, Lee U-fan, Hiroshi Senju, Masaaki Miyasako etc.
The exhibition covers from modern to contemporary Japanese artists spanning more than half a century of Japanese art scene, various styles and method of artistic expression and innovations. From avant-garde calligraphy work by Yuichi Inoue to contemporary interpretation of Nihonga(traditional Japanese painting) by Senju and Moyasako, it is a bold presentation of Japanese arts` past, and now.
